It can be a great experience to see animals and spend time with some incredible species whilst you are on holiday. You do have to be careful however, as animals are not always treated as well as they are in the UK. Here are some ways you can enjoy animal travel, without having to worry about the animals you are seeing:
- Do your research. Make sure you are going somewhere that has adequate facilities for caring for its animals. Don’t just read reviews from other tourists – see what animal charities and organisation have said about the facilities.
- Visit sanctuaries rather than zoos. They are doing good work and rescuing animals. Just ensure that it is a legitimate sanctuary that is genuinely working for conservation.
- Get an agency to organise your trips. Choose someone with a good reputation who is trustworthy and reliable. They should be able to organise your transport for you as well.
